Triplets 2008This is my 9th year raising Dairy goats, and I have learned a lot over the years. I started out with one cross doe (Sea Star), and gradually enlarged my herd. I didn't start registering my goats until several years ago when I bought my first registered doe (Blueberry). I have been trying to keep my herd small so that I can still spend as much time with each individual goat like when I first started, but it is difficult. Goats are like cookies, you can't just have one!!!

When I started raising goats years ago, my goal was to have goats that I could eventually show at Nationals. I am still not there yet, but I have made a lot of progress and learned a ton! This year several of our does actually went on to win Grand and Reserve Champion! Right now I am trying to cut down the size of my herd a little bit so I can go to college, but I am still up-breeding. Since I am trying to cut down on herd size, I will probably have a fair amount of goats for sale during this year. Feel free to email us at anytime if you are interested in one, even if you don't see any listed for sale.

Right now we have all of the goats in the barn; we finally have everything set up just how we like it! We have one large main "loafing pen" where all the does stay during the spring, winter and some of the fall, and then 4-5 small kidding or sick pens. During the summer all the does and kids are out on pasture on the side lawn in a hoop house, which seems to work pretty well. We also rotate them through several other small pastures to give them a chance to browse more. All of the goats are raised as naturally as possible, to reduce stress and keep them healthy. We never administer medicines or bottle-feed unless it is necessary.

This year kidding season will begin in early to mid March.

Sea Star was my first doe, I bought her as a young doe kid in the spring of 2000. Since then she has given birth to eleven kids, and is by far one of the healthiest goats in my herd. Even though she is not registered, she earns her keep, and is a really sweet and friendly doe.
