Pigs

Paige raises our hogs, They are a lot of fun and quite intelligent. On several occasions different hogs have brought empty water bowls (because they dumped them) up to us to be refilled with water. Hogs serve several purposes on our farm, They remove sod, dig up rocks, and fertilize the ground for future gardens. Paige takes two hogs to our county fair for show and to be auctioned. The remaining hogs are put into freezers.

Llamas

Four years ago my uncle started downsizing his llama farm and he offered us two. He did not have to ask Chris twice, and we now have Maple and Cappuccino (Cappy). For the record, our llamas have never spit at us [My uncle explained that if you do not handle crias (young llamas) they will not think of you as one of them, and will not spit at you]. Aside from being an interesting addition to our farm, the llamas provide nice fiber and protection for our sheep. On three occasions I have seen the llamas show signs of distress about some happening outside of their (and the sheep) fenced pasture. They ran back and forth behind the sheep and herded them off of the pasture and back down to the lean-to where they are fed and sleep.
